InnovOak School is proud to align its comprehensive and robust academic program with the underlying skills development needed for success in every grade. Providing the skills valued and sought by Universities and Employers, we look to the future to set your child up for success. The 12 InnovOak Core skills are explicitly taught and regularly assessed.

Planning and Assessing for Advanced Learning

The JK-Grade 12 model at InnovOak ensures that we plan for success and provide opportunities for advancement from day one. Offering Reach Ahead credits, we can offer students the ability to learn above their grade level without having to leave the building. Planning for the accelerated curriculum and setting expectations that guarantee students have the skills and knowledge to progress, your child is better prepared to achieve in the future.

Guidance Coaches work with students to actively support their career and post-secondary interests. They also support student learning and track student progress starting in JK/SK. As students develop, our hands-on approach to course selection, career planning, and university acceptance guarantees that your child is prepared for the future. Students create and maintain portfolios to encourage goal setting, accountability, and measure long-term growth. Your child will graduate with the habits that lead to being responsible and accountable for their achievement and success.

Dedicated Learning Time focused on Foundational Subjects

Knowing the importance of foundational learning, InnovOak School prioritizes learning time dedicated to foundational math and literacy. Kindergarten students learn to read and write before Grade 1 and utilize Montessori Materials to develop math knowledge and understanding before moving on to Singapore Math; Singapore math strategies teach foundational math concepts beyond the Ontario Curriculum Framework. Concrete tools help students to understand abstract concepts at a young age in an effort to build a solid foundation knowledge for further learning. By dedicating time to develop strong readers, writers, and mathematicians, we strengthen learning in all areas. Foundational Literacy and math are an important focus in every grade, every day.

Acceleration of the Ontario Curriculum

Whether they start in Kindergarten or join us later in their education, students work with an accelerated curriculum that is focused on surpassing the Ontario Curriculum at all grade levels. InnovOak is very proactive in planning for your child’s education. The JK to Grade 12 model
is a seamless continuum of skill building without unnecessary and disruptive transitions.

Our goal is that students begin each grade already having mastered the baseline Ontario Curriculum and begin working towards the expectations of the next grade. Using kindergarten students as the example: Use of Phonics, Phonemic Awareness, and Orthographic Mapping, aligned with the Science of Reading, ensures our kindergarten students arrive in Grade 1 as readers and writers. At each grade level we accelerate learning and provide opportunities for progression beyond the Ontario Curriculum.

Program Enrichments that Create Exciting Learning Opportunities

Enriched programs go hand in hand with high expectations. Students earn the OSSD in addition to our signature InnovOak Honours Graduation Diploma (ISHGD). Setting high standards, we ensure there are many different opportunities for students to grow and learn. Community involvement, the explicit teaching of crucial life skills and opportunities to explore the world outside of school are just some of the ways we work to broaden student perspectives.

Co-Op Programming in Grade 11 and 12 provide Upper School students with the real-world experience valued by universities and future employers. Our Co-Op focus is geared towards a meaningful experience that supports post-secondary plans rather than a filler course for graduation requirements. Guidance coaches work with students to provide an experience that supports each student’s individual academic planning. Utilizing community connections and the robust KW region tech sector, InnovOak provides real life experience that prepares students for success in the working world.
